Drop a PDF, EPUB, Word, Kindle or text file here
…or click to browse. You can also just paste (Ctrl+V) a
file or text anywhere in the app.
If what you paste is HTML, it is detected and converted to readable
text automatically — the article is picked out and the navigation, ads and footers
are dropped.
From a web address
Read the article only finds the main body of the page and skips menus,
sidebars, comments and adverts. Read whole page takes all the visible text.
Grimoire fetches the page on its own server, so the browser's cross-origin rule
no longer gets in the way. Some pages still won't come through: sites that block
readers, anything behind a login or paywall, and pages that build their text in
the browser so there is nothing to fetch. The bookmarklet below handles all three
— it reads the page you already have open.
PDF cleanup
PDFs and EPUBs are parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Point a camera at a page, or pick a photo. Words start
flashing as soon as the first line is read — you don't wait for the page
to finish.
Getting the engine ready…
Options
Everything happens on this device — the photo is never
uploaded anywhere, and the OCR engine is served from this app, not a CDN.
Backup
Everything lives in this browser's storage. Export a backup file if you
reinstall, clear browsing data, or move to another machine.
Danger
A bookmark is a place to come back to. Press M while
reading, or use the 🔖 button, and the spot you are on is saved. If the document
has chapters, the bookmark is named after the one you were in.

Select text in ☰ Text or 📖 Book view to highlight it, or press
H while reading to highlight the current sentence. Click any highlight
to write a note on it. 📝 Sticky note adds a note in the margin that can point
an arrow at any word.

Clearing the daily history leaves your lifetime word and hour counters
untouched. Resetting lifetime totals cannot be undone.

M bookmarks the spot you are on, and the star beside any highlight adds it to Favourites. Both are in the Bookmarks panel.

How to actually get faster
Start at a speed that feels slightly too easy (250–350) and read for ten minutes
without stopping. Turn on progressive training and let it drag you upward — the
gain comes from suppressing subvocalisation and regression, not from raw eye
speed, and that only happens when the pace is just past comfortable.
Chunk size 2 at 400 wpm is usually easier than chunk size 1 at 800.
