What speed reading cannot do
Every product in this category promises you will read several times faster with no loss of understanding. The research does not support that, and we would rather say so here than have you discover it later.
Eye movement is only about a tenth of the time you spend reading — the rest is language, and no interface speeds that up. Removing your ability to glance back at a word measurably costs comprehension on difficult text.
What RSVP genuinely buys you is pace and attention: you stop losing your line, you stop drifting off mid-paragraph without noticing, and you finish things you would otherwise abandon. That is worth real time. It is not a multiplier on your brain.
