No account needed for either plan. You'll get a key — the reader collects it automatically after checkout, and you can paste it on any other device.
Do I need an account?
No. Paying gets you a key, and the key is the whole activation step — there is no sign-up and no password. Square, our payment processor, holds your payment details and receipt email; this site never sees your card. An account is optional. With Pro, signing in keeps Your Library — every document, position and note — and your reading stats in your account, so they're there on any device.
What if I lose my key?
Reply to your Square receipt and it gets reissued. Keys are stored hashed here, so nobody — including us — can look yours up; reissuing is the only recovery path, and that's the same property that means a break-in on this server exposes no customer.
How do I cancel the monthly plan?
Use the manage-subscription link in your Square receipt, or reply to it and we'll cancel it for you. Pro stays on until the end of the month you've paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — within 14 days of any charge, monthly or lifetime, for any reason. Reply to your receipt. The key for that purchase stops working once the refund goes through.
What does "lifetime" mean?
Pro for as long as Grimoire exists, with no further payments — not the lifetime of any particular device. It's a limited-time offer and may stop being sold; anyone who bought it keeps it. The full definition is in the Terms.
Can I use Pro on more than one device?
Yes. Paste the same key anywhere you read. There's no device limit and no activation count to run out of.
Will the free tier ever go away or get worse?
No. The limits listed under Free are the limits — 5,000 words per document, 475 wpm — and they don't get tightened later to push you into Pro.
What happens when a document is longer than 5,000 words?
It still opens and still reads. You get the first 5,000 words, and the reader tells you exactly how many words are left. Nothing is hidden or silently truncated.
Why cap the speed below 500 wpm?
The measured adult average is about 238 wpm, so 475 is already double that — free isn't a crippled demo. At 500 and above you're doing deliberate speed work, and that's what Pro is for, along with the training mode that gets you there.
